Kemetri Free Black Soap Hair Cleanser Recipe (Wash Day Formula)

For Loose Natural Hair, Curls, Coils & Protective Styles (Not for Locs)

This cleanser is designed to nourish, soften, cleanse, and protect the hair from root to tip using the Earth’s gifts in their purest form.

Ingredients

  • African Black Soap (size appropriate for your hair length)

  • Marshmallow Root tea (base cleanser)

  • Slippery Elm tea (base cleanser)

  • Raw Honey

  • Sidr Root Powder

  • Aloe Vera Powder

  • Shea Butter or Mango Butter

  • Optional: Additional natural oils (castor, jojoba, olive, etc.)

  • Lots of love (the most important ingredient)

Herbal Tea Preparation (Night Before or 3+ Hours Before)

  1. Place marshmallow root and slippery elm herbs into a cheesecloth.

  2. Steep herbs in 4 oz of water overnight or for at least 3 hours.

  3. Set teas aside until ready to use.

Double Boiler Cleanser Method

  1. In a double boiler, gently melt your shea or mango butter.

  2. While the butters are melting, prepare your herbal teas as described above.

  3. Once butters are fully melted and warm, add any additional oils you choose.

  4. Add raw honey and stir slowly.

  5. Add sidr root powder and aloe vera powder to the warm mixture.

  6. Keep all ingredients warming together in the double boiler for approximately 30 minutes.

  7. Remove from heat and allow to cool slightly.

  8. Pour the mixture into a glass, reusable jar.

  9. Slowly pour in your herbal tea and mix thoroughly.

  10. Any remaining tea may be poured over your hair after washing and rinsed out.

How to Use (Loose Hair Only)

  • Apply from root to ends.

  • Gently massage this oil-based cleanser into your scalp while lathering the crown.

  • Rinse thoroughly with warm water.

  • Follow with your natural conditioning and sealing routine.

⚠️ Important:Do NOT use this formula on locs. This cleanser contains fine herbal particles and raw honey that can lodge inside locs and cause buildup.
